A-L.C.L. Wagenknecht is Angelica

Physicist. Goldsmith. Author. Conservationist.

I didn't build a time machine. I built a system.

I am a physicist—with experience at the Department of Defense and NASA—and somewhere along the way, I realized that had become the wrong question. The question was never how to go back. It was how to move forward in worlds whose systems were never designed to hold the people inside them.

I grew up in the Philippines, moved away, and began again. I kept searching for the structure underneath everything—a pattern, much like the language of math—to better orient myself in my journeys to pursue my goals in life. Yet, from age 12, I constantly encountered the same pattern: closed doors despite following instructions, withheld access, systems that made room for performance of the work rather than the work itself. So I stopped waiting to be seated at those tables and built the tables instead.

That search, once synthesized, became The Philosophy of Desire, a novel of inquiry, and A Bear for Every Hour, a 110-title illustrated series. Together, they form a single framework for interpreting reality when the rules no longer hold.

I am also a goldsmith, trained in the Philippines, and the founder of Ange Lorraine Fine Jewelry, whose work has been featured by the Gemological Institute of America; the founder of the Wagenknecht Society for Marine Conservation Inc.; and a Civil Air Patrol officer.

Mensa negata? Fac aliam. Table denied? Make another one.

“Power is when you can—and still choose otherwise.”
